Pontiac Senior High School Class of 1958

Here is a very cool class photo from Webster Elementary School, Mrs. Jones' class.. Many of us have fond memories of chasing each other around that school and playground, trying to pay attention during what at the time was called "progressive" elementary curriculum and instruction.

Hello Classmates-

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and give an update on what is being planned for our 50th Reunion.

Pre-Party - Thursday, August 21, 2008- Casual
6:30 pm - We have reserved a room that will be used as a hospitality room near the hotel bar area. Our Committee will be there to welcome and direct you to the party The pre-party is an evening to socialize and get reacquainted. lf you are planning on attending we would appreciate you either call or send an email to one of the committe members. This will help us finalize our plans and give the hotel a projected head count of how many will attend.

Silent Auction - We have several interesting items of memorabilia that will be on display for our silent auction. Money from the auction will be used as a start up fund for our next reunion and a portion will be donated to the Wisner Historical Society of Pontiac.

Video- The evening will be videoed and your participation and purchase will be voluntary.

Breakfast- Saturday, August 23, 2008
8:30 am- Anyone interested in getting together for breakfast at the hotel is welcome. We have reserved a room within the hotel restaurant. EVERYONE IS WELCOME

Brochures will be available both nights for your review of events that are happening in the area.

The Reunion Committee has enjoyed planning and facilitating the last several class reunions however; it is time for the reins to be passed to a new committee. We are asking someone to VOLUNTEER to take charge. We will be happy to share any of our information that you might need in planning our next reunion.

The City of Pontiac has made available on their site this fantastic collection of 111 historic photos, some dating from before 1900. Many of the photos are coupled with identical locations photographed in 2006.

Hi,
Looking forward to the reunion.Yolanda and I met through a mutual friend when she worked at Michigan Bank in Detroit as a proof operator. We met in January 1966, and married June 21, 1967. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple and receptions in SLC, Utah and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. We have seven children.Yolanda is a graduate of Guatemala City Business College a Spanish/English Secretary. Worked for the LDS Building Construction Office until moving to Mesa, Arizona, residing in SLC working for the church after that, and then moved with her uncle a Chrysler employee to Michigan. She is our financial miracle worker. Glenn attended Lawrence Institute of Technology 1958, joined the marines 1959-1965. Michigan Bank in 1966 after a brief interlude searching for a career: 1963 Survey Instrument man Oakland County Road Commission, Party Chief Municipal Consultant Services and then 1965 Senior Clerk Pontiac Motors plant 8 production and central stores. He served in the Data Processing Management Association which became Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) from 1975 - 2002, and participates in community interest activities.We resided in Pontiac then Waterford through 1977 when we moved to Mesa, Arizona. Glenn was CIO of McLaren General Hospital in Flint, Michigan and just resigned, packed up the family and moved to Mesa, Arizona. We are living essentially in the same place different house since. Five of our children were born in Michigan. Glenn's career led to computer programmer at Michigan Bank to private Consultant family business where he retired June, 2002. We maintain a modest investment business in rental property. All of our children live near us except two: The oldest son passed away September, 2002 resided in California and a daughter after 8 years diplomatic service tours with husband and boys in Asia reside in Maryland.Yolanda and Glenn love to hike together, read, garden, genealogy and entertain friends, and family. We served 2 year mission as Church Service Missionaries for the local Cannery complex, local missionary callings and leadership roles. As our children grew we participated in the Boy Scouts, PTO, primary and young women programs in the community. We love to travel, and planning on doing more of that in the years to come. We went on an organized tour and are hooked to pursue a few more such exciting experiences.We now are full-time grandparents of 14 children: 7 boys 7 girls which keep us young.

Great job with the blog. I'm hoping many more classmates will be able to post good and bad comments for our upcoming reunion. So far Bob And Sophia Thompson, and Marie Colyer have been doing overtime trying to get this event started. We need to meet financial criteria with the Marriott over the next 4 months causing us to ask our fellow classmates sign up as early as possible. Hope it doesn't cause money problems with anybody.
The class of '57 wound up with 275 at their party last year. We had 135 at our 45th. I know we can do better than that if we all give a good effort. The Marriott is a very beautiful place to have the party.
